NORMAL
HISTOLOGICAL EXAMINATION
ISTODIEREVNITIKI operates in the field of anatomic pathology; internationally this field is often described as “Surgical Pathology”.
A key, irreplaceable tool in this field, based on international practice, is normal histological examination, in other words studying the materials under a light microscope initially by staining it with haematoxylin and eosin (H&E).
At ISTODIEREVNITIKI this method is always applied in the lab to formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) materials.
Normal anatomic pathology (histological) examination is unique compared to other areas of laboratory medicine in the following ways:
- A. it requires a high amount of manual / technological work;
- B. the result of the examination is entirely qualitative and not quantitative.
- ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY FINDINGS ARE SUBJECTIVE MEDICAL OPINIONS AND NOT MEASUREMENTS.
- AS SUCH, THEY DEPEND EXCLUSIVELY ON THE ABILITY, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE OF THE ANATOMIC PATHOLOGIST CARRYING OUT THE EXAMINATION.
