TURNAROUND
TIMES

ISTODIEREVNITIKI defines the turnaround time (TaT) required to complete the histological examination as the time between receipt of the sample at the laboratory and approval of the final findings by the anatomic pathologist.

For the purpose of categorising specimens by processing time, ISTODIEREVNITIKI has set the following targets:

  • i. Small sample (TaT: 2-3 working days)
  • ii. Medium sample (TaT: 2-3 working days)
  • iii. Large sample (TaT: 3-4 working days)
  • iv. Rapid biopsy (TaT: 20' per rapid biopsy)

“Working Day” means any day (apart from Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). The ISTODIEREVNITIKI lab may take receipt of specimens up to Saturday noon, but Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not considered working days.

However, ISTODIEREVNITIKI declares that it is not in a position to provide any guarantee, assurance or warranty (whether express or tacit) about its ability to observe the stated turnaround times in any individual case.

The reason for this

Given that ISTODIEREVNITIKI’s primary concern is to document the tests it carries out in as scientifically adequate a way as possible, and while every effort will be made to achieve the turnaround times referred to above, the anatomic pathologists at ISTODIEREVNITIKI may consider it necessary to refer certain specimens for additional supplementary tests such as histochemistry, immunohistochemistry or molecular diagnosis. Under these conditions the total turnaround time will be extended beyond the planned completion time. In these cases, an initial report will be made available to the referring clinician, with a clear reference to the fact that further tests/analyses have been requested.
